I've laboriously put in the effort to build countless pillars, roofed off extensive portions of my base and the surrounding areas to create safe pathways across the entire map I've made ridiculously complicated and time consuming zone assignments for all my villagers and animals so they aren't exposed to timefall or toxic rain. I'm not waiting three years for this to end. Psychic rain, toxic fallout, or other tedious but not difficult environmental effects that lasts just a little too long. This has become a general complain post for me so here are some more things I hate that cause me to save scum or dev mode. But I've still save scummed for the previously mentioned jank. I've had some bad shit go down, my best pawn just turned into a horrible chimaera monster and I don't have the materials to revert the mutations, and that's just how this save is going. Right now I'm doing a pawnmorpher / genetic rim nightmare factory save and going ham on everything and everyone, taking whatever mutations and other accidents happen. But when the game's AI is just too rudimentary to give the pawns or animals any kind of self preservation instinct is when I throw down the reload.
If I make a tactical or strategicmistake, if I simply overlook something like that raider with a doomsday, fine, that's on me. I do not accept catastrophe that is fully the result of that kind of video game jank. This is more save scumming than dev mode adjustments, though I will do those things in rare cases as well.įor save scumming, whenever the pawn AI does fully jank ass shit that no person would ever do like walking out into an oncoming raid because the algorithm decided to assign my cowering crafter to haul that newly dead mechanoid to the shredding bench, or having a defender get lit on fire by a molotov and run into the enemies because there's a lake 20 tiles behind the raid, which is technically closer than the pond that's 30 tiles backwards into the safety of our base (if pawns even do that. When I use prepare carefully, I tend to min max way too much and one colonist’s death can be the end of the colony when BuilderCook just unluckily lost both arms to infection after the first raid. This leads to fun challenges like Doctor Brawler leading the charge and being the only one capable of tending. I’m somewhat picky, but as long as I can cover survival, I’ll go for it. Soft ban on chemical fascination if I’m dealing drugs this playthrough. Nobody can be incapable of violence, and no old folks (70+) or debilitating issues like frail or bad back. If I’m going somewhere I can grow, I’ll take plants 4+ with a passion, but hope for plants 8+ for heal root. Need someone with medical 4+, and someone hopefully has a passion for intelligence. Construction needs a minimum of 5 (for coolers). Need one cook with passion, preferably level 8+. Need one shooter with a passion and hopefully a skill over 6.
